The biggest attractions of Bornholm are perhaps the vertical granite cliffs that rise dramatically from the sea and the big white sandy beaches along the southern coast. The beaches invite you to enjoy sunbathing and swimming in summer and to take long walks and enjoy the strong breeze in autumn. In the small charming harbours you can see how the fresh herring is turned in to a "smoked Bornholmer" in the smokehouses. You can also taste the Danish specialty "Sol over Gudhjem" (sun over Gudhjem), which consists of a golden smoked herring with capers, raw onions and an egg yolk. Bornholm is a Mecca for anglers who can enjoy unique experiences, especially in autumn, winter and spring. The geographical location of the island as well as the biological conditions create the ideal environment for all kinds of fishing.
