Altfunnixsiel, East Frisia, (Rural district of Wittmund), Germany
Presently this holiday rental is not on offer for booking. Instead look for alternatives in Altfunnixsiel, on the German North Sea Coast or in Germany.
Superior holiday house with a south-facing terrace and wireless Internet access, near many leisure facilities
Enjoy the tranquility of the East Frisian inland area away from hustle and bustle…
The holiday house was built in 1998 and was used exclusively privately as a holiday home until March 2009, so the interior is charming and of a high standard accordingly. It provides 65m² of living space on two floors and therefore generous space for four people.
The ground floor has a spacious living and dining room with an adjoining open and well-equipped kitchen. The living room opens directly onto the large, sheltered, south-facing terrace with an awning. The ground floor also has a bathroom with a shower and a storage room. The upper floor comprises a romantic bedroom with an adjoining WC, along with a second light bedroom with two single beds. A travel cot can also be added for a toddler.
A car parking spaces is reserved for you next to the house.
Altfunnixsiel belongs to the town Wittmun and is an idyllic holiday destination by the Harle, a river that flows into the North Sea near Harlesiel about 7km away. It is only a couple of minutes by car to Carolinensiel or Neuharlingersiel with good shops. In Altfunnixsiel itself there is a campsite with a little shop with the basics, including breakfast rolls. Canoeing takes place actively on the Harle, and as an attraction for all ages there is the Lütge Land leisure park. If you would like to treat yourself, you should visit the spa centre and family baths Cliner Quelle in Carolinensiel, with a range of wellness facilities (saunas, steam bath and massages). From the coastal towns you can go on boat trips to the islands with their lovely, endless sandy beaches (e.g. Wangerooge, Spiekeroog and Langeroog). Or how about a boat trip to the seal embankments? It is always interesting to go on guided walks across the tidal flats (don’t forget old and sturdy footwear!). You can also enjoy great walks (some with your dog) along the natural beaches in Schillig and Hooksiel. If the weather is not quiet so sunny, there are indoor play centres for children nearby or the animal park in Werdum, so there will not be a dull moment. Adults can enjoy the crackling of rock candy whilst having a cup of good East Frisian tea in a cosy tea parlour. You can go on car trips to towns such as Wittmund, Esens, Jever, Wilhelmshaven, Aurich or Emden, then shop to your heart’s content or visit various museums. Or you can take the museum boat Marie Van’t Siel along the Harle to Carolinensiel (during the season). From there at the Museumshafen you can take the historical paddle steamer directly to the sea and the beach. Another transport option is of course by bicycle, with rentals near the house. You will not manage to explore all ca. 3300km of well-developed and signposted cycle trails in East Frisia, but you are welcome to come back! Apart from cycling, you can enjoy inline skating, riding, boating or, if you are a bit more leisurely, fishing. If you do not feel like cooking there is a restaurant a couple of minutes’ walk away with well-priced home cooking. Other recommended restaurants can be found in the surrounding localities.
As you can see, East Frisia has a lot to offer. It is just waiting for you to explore it!
