The house is thus built of stone and wood, while clay tiles have been laid around the pool. The pool, in turn, uses a filter with diatoms in order to limit the use of chlorine and chemicals, and to always ensure optimum water quality. Guests can therefore use the pool as they please, without later complaining of dry skin. The plants on the property are sustained via a water-saving spray irrigation system. All windows are double glazed. Energy saving lamps are used throughout the house as is modern condensing technology.Organic waste is composted and used in the garden. Tomatoes, aubergines, courgettes and much more are grown in the garden and are gladly passed on to the guests.Orte is a town in the province of Viterbo, located on a tuff cliff of the Valley of the river Tiber, surrounded to the North and to the East by a bend of the river and to the South by one its tributaries, the Rio Paranza. The area was inhabited since the Palaeolithic Ages, as evidenced by the finding of some flints and arrowheads, now preserved in Rome at the Museum Pigorini. Later it became an Etruscan settlement and suffered the Roman conquest. Being part of the Empire, the town followed the fortunes of Rome. After the fall of the Roman Empire, the town experienced the Barbarian invasions and their destructive incursions. Occupied by the Arabs and conquered by the Lombards in 914, between the X and Xi centuries, Orte intensified its control over the commercial traffic of the Tiber, contending its toll rights with Amelia, Narni and the Abbey of Farfa. In later centuries there was a decisive increase in population, accompanied by an urban, economic and cultural development. It became one of the major cities of the Patrimony of St. Peter in Tuscia and in 1864 began the construction of the railway of the Papal States. Orte is a very picturesque small village in provincial central Italy. Ancient inhabitants ( 6 th century B.C.) understood the strategic importance of the tuff rock flanked on one side by the river Tiber, and settled the original nucleus of the village on its top. Centuries of history have since then enriched this elevated portion of land and its surroundings. Medieval and Renaissance buildings are still the setting of contemporary everyday life at Orte.
A nice pergola and a beautiful garden. The garden is a true oasis of peace especially thanks to the presence of the secular oaks.
