“The town is practically row of houses behind the main street and whole life is located on the front line and park/forest on opposite side. The bad that there is missing shops like small stores or grocery. Nearest shop is Spar which is about 1km. Spar is overcrowded by peoples and carry backpocket with food and drinks for children at 30+ degrees for this distance is not for all. It is possible to buy fresh bagette and drinks at two kiosk very close to the apartment, also local food at Krish kiosk - flat bread with octopus, lamb, chicken curry cost about 1EUR and is very delicious and authentic. Rest of the streets are one by one restaurant which opening hours is like russian roulette. Only chinese restaurant guarantee fast service, at other restaurant we sometimes wait more then 1 hour and childrens was bored. The biggest "wake-up" is that Mauritius is absolutely different from pictures and presentation from travel agencies. Sand is NOT white powder and forget stories about 30m visibility and crystal clear water full of colour fishes. Big waves attacking coral reef cause lot of corals pieces and seaweed on the beach and sea. Foot massage! The surface of course vary during day-tide. Driving on the Mauritius is absolutely madness. Opposite side, dogs, trucks, heavy traffic etc.. average speed 35km/h. Peoples are very kind and we felt safe. Sometime offers us can of beer or food, took the pictures of us, because not so many whites on public beach. Peoples likes family life over generations, common barbeques with music and fireworks. After their night party the park and the beach is dirty by plastic bags, cans, bottles and rest of fireworks. We traveled around the island and Flic en Flac big advantage = longest public beach. Maybe we visited the place at wrong time, but I'm sure that lot of mentioned issues remain whole year.”
