“Just back from a week in Marzamemi. Absolutely fantastic village with plenty of nice bars, restaurants and cafe's around the square and in side streets off. In May, the village wasn´t busy and you could see it has been affected by the recession with far less tourists than expected. The beaches also at this time of the year weren´t that clean due to windier weather and no services outside the tourist season. That being said, you can still find good beaches around the town. Contrary to older posts, the village is well served with good local supermarket with everything you need for self catering, excellent restaurants and cafes. Pachino is only a 5 min drive away where there are plenty of larger supermarkets for shopping. In general in Marzamemi, on any day of the week, there will always be some farmer selling fresh produce from the back of an old Fiat!! All in all, a great village and location for experiencing real Sicily. Also a good location for exploring surrounding towns of Modica, Noto, Syracuse etc. New airport in Comiso is also a handy 1.5 hour drive. Sat Nav is however definitely needed
